A Sunday Afternoon
It was a lazy Sunday and we were all feeling a bit carefree and unhurried. We went upstairs with the intention of getting ourselves put back together after a nice summer afternoon nap but the cozy bed layered in soft, plush pillows and blankets lured Jon away from the task. He snuggled himself into the center of our bed and it looked so pleasant that I followed. I settled cross ways and placed my head in the small of his back. The curtains were drawn , the room was dim with only a few glimmering nougats of light filtering through the blinds. The central air was working overtime and cool drafts would drift across us. We both closed our eyes and waited for our little ladies to discover us. They were running from room to room, their little feet making a raucous as they searched for us. It wasn’t long before they were grabbing the blankets and pulling themselves up over the side of the bed, giggling with their mischievous intentions. They body slammed Jon, belly flopping on his back, burying their heads in his neck. Jon returned the mischief. He tossed the girls in the air, flipped them into the pillows, and tickled them until they belly-laughed. And they kept coming back for more, delighted. Eventually they jumped off the bed and ran around while Jon tossed the pillows at them. They were able to dodge a few but most of them were right on target, knocking them off their feet onto their little tushies. They laughed even harder. I quietly listened, smiling, for the laugh of my babies is the sweetest sound in the entire world. This is what life’s all about. Why are these moments so few and far between? I wish that I could bottle them up forever, exactly as they are right now. Sweet, innocent, and full of love and joy. They are heaven in tiny little packages.

This brought tears to my eyes. This is how life is supposed to be. You are such an eloquent writer. Its so obvious how much you love these little girls. They are so blessed to have a mother and father who love them so fully and unconditionally. Blessed indeed........
